Viji Krishnamoorthy is the author of 912 Batu Road, a work of historical fiction set in Malaya during the Japanese occupation and present-day Malaysia. It tells the story of two families their friendship, forbidden love, betrayal and forgiveness

The book recognizes two unsung heroes in Malayan history. Sybil Kathigasu a nurse who fearlessly and oftentimes at risk of her own life, attended to wounded members of the Malayan resistance and Gurchan Singh, a prominent member of the Malayan Resistance Movement who ingeniously published pamphlets depicting the true progress of the war at large, thereby negating the official stance of the Axis powers, giving the people of Malaya hope

912 Batu Road is a story of migration, roots, and identity. It sparks conversations about family trees and our collective histories, may they be oral at the elbows of our elders or written on sepia letters. It explores the duality in life, friendship and betrayal, loss and joy, acceptance, and rejection.

Chat with Viji on why it is important to tell our stories, that we all have stories to tell and it is through remembering our stories that we weave layers of ancestral memories into a tapestry of words.

Refreshments and an opportunity to meet and chat with like-minded women.
